Uptown and Galleria Neighborhoods We Move In
From the Post Oak Boulevard towers to the deed-restricted streets of Tanglewood, these are the parts of Uptown and the Galleria area our crews work most:
- Post Oak Boulevard and the Uptown towers (77056): high-rise condos and apartments where the freight elevator, loading dock and certificate of insurance get booked before the truck does
- Tanglewood (77056): large mid-century lots, newer rebuilds and strictly enforced deed restrictions just north of the Galleria
- Briargrove (77057): mid-century single-story homes on big lots, with an active civic club and deed restrictions
- Briarcroft and Larchmont (77056 and 77057): 1950s ranch-style homes on quiet residential streets
- Sage Road and Yorktown Street (77056): mid-rise and high-rise condos and apartments a short walk from the Galleria
- Bering Drive and Augusta Drive (77057): gated townhome and condo communities, each with its own move-in rules
- Westhaven Estates (77057): patio homes and townhomes on the west side of the Galleria area
- Highland Village and Afton Oaks (77027): just east of the West Loop, between Uptown and River Oaks
- Upper Kirby and Greenway Plaza (77098 and 77046): condos, townhomes and office towers a few minutes east
We also cover Memorial, River Oaks, West University and Bellaire next door. Short moves count too: a Briargrove house into a Post Oak condo, or one tower to the next, is billed the same hourly way.
Moving in Uptown: What Our Crews Plan For
High-rise rules, bus lanes and holiday traffic shape a move here. This is what we sort out before the truck rolls:
-
Freight Elevators and Dock Windows
Most Uptown high-rises book the freight elevator and loading dock in set time blocks, often weeks ahead, and many limit moves to weekday hours. We size the crew so the job fits inside your reserved window.
-
Certificates of Insurance
Buildings usually want a certificate of insurance naming the property and its management company before they release the elevator. Send us your building's requirements and we send the certificate ahead of move day.
-
Post Oak Boulevard and the West Loop
Post Oak Boulevard has dedicated bus lanes for METRO's Silver Line, so a moving truck cannot stop in them. We agree on truck parking with your building in advance and time the drive around 610 and Westheimer rush hours.
-
Holiday Season at the Galleria
From Thanksgiving weekend through New Year's, traffic around the Galleria gets heavy. If you move in that stretch, a weekday morning start and an early elevator booking keep the day on schedule.
-
Big Homes and Fine Furniture
Tanglewood and Briargrove homes often hold heavy dining sets, pianos, antiques and art. Everything is padded and wrapped, pianos and safes carry an extra charge that is listed in your estimate, and our warehouse can store antiques between homes.
Tips for Your Uptown Move
- Reserve the freight elevator and loading dock first, then pick a moving date that matches the window your building gives you.
- Ask building management for its certificate of insurance requirements in writing and send them to your moving consultant when you book.
- Find out where a moving truck can park and whether the garage or dock has a height limit.
- Measure the elevator, hallways and doorways for large pieces like sectionals, king headboards and pianos before move day.
- In November and December, start early on a weekday to stay ahead of the Galleria holiday traffic.
Your Dates, Guaranteed
Your pickup and delivery dates go in writing when you book, so you can reserve the freight elevator and loading dock for that same day. If the building changes your window, your moving consultant reworks the schedule with you.
Getting to Uptown
Our warehouse on Clara Road is roughly 14 miles from the Galleria, down US-290 and the West Loop. You pay the standard 1-hour trip charge, with no mileage fee and no fuel surcharge, and we time the drive to miss the worst of the 610 and Westheimer rush whenever your building's hours allow.
